Coptix and Resource Foundation Boost Volunteer Projects for Chattanooga Public Schools

Chattanooga TN (April 17, 2006)-- For the launch of its newest initiative, SERVE CHATTANOOGA, the Chattanooga Resource Foundation asked local design and technology firm Coptix, Inc. to create an online user experience that will encourage community participation.

The SERVE CHATTANOOGA initiative unites churches, community, civic and business leaders to improve public schools by designing and implementing specific projects that enable meaningful community service. The focus of the program is to improve the public school environment in the city through volunteerism, supporting teachers and administrators and cultivating students' sense of ownership of their schools.

Response to the program has been overwhelmingly positive, with endorsements from Chattanooga Mayor Ron Littlefield, Hamilton County Mayor Claude Ramsey, and School Superintendent Jesse Register at a press conference on April 17th. More than 40 schools have already signed on to participate.

Realizing the potential of the internet to promote and empower SERVE CHATTANOOGA's volunteer efforts, the Resource Foundation turned to Coptix to develop a unique online user experience at www.servechattanooga.com.

Coptix used its experience as Chattanooga's leading full service provider of web and marketing services to build a website that serves as bridge between project leaders and the public. At the click of a button, any potential volunteer organization or individual with an internet connection can quickly and easily learn about opportunities, as well as how to plug in.

”Increasing numbers of people are looking to the internet as a resource for information, and as a means of connecting with people and opportunities,” said John Atherton, Project Coordinator of SERVE CHATTANOOGA. “ It has been our experience that Coptix provides solutions that help people engage the community, which is exactly what we are trying to do."

"As a company made up of avid Chattanoogan boosters, Coptix is pleased to work with the Chattanooga Resource Foundation on a project that enables civic involvement and local volunteerism," said Josiah Roe, Vice President of Coptix. "By tailoring the best of technology and web marketing to the not-for-profit sector, we are delighted that our tools and services are benefitting not only the SERVE CHATTANOOGA program but the city as a whole."
